After the success of the inaugural Fort Collins Book Fest in 2016 (Brewin’ Up Books), the free, one-day literary arts festival is back with a new theme: Writings and Riffs. This year’s festival celebrates books, poetry, and music as a means of storytelling, self-expression, and social conversation. In short, books and music are flip sides of the same artistic coin. One just needs to look at the recent Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to writer, singer-songwriter, and musician Bob Dylan.

Featured authors/presenters:
• Kim Gordon, Sonic Youth musician, artist, and author of Girl in a Band: A Memoir;
• Craig Werner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee member and author of We Gotta Get Out of this Place: Music from the Vietnam War;
• Steve Knopper, Rolling Stone Magazine contributing editor and author of MJ: The Genius of Michael Jackson; and
• G. Brown, Director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and author of Colorado Rocks! A Half-Century of Music in Colorado.

There will also be a variety of other music-related authors as well as local literary voices and poets like Khadijah Queen and Felicia Zamora, Fort Collins Poet Laureate. The festival includes writing workshops, author readings, panel discussions, speaker presentations, book sales and signings, and more.

The FoCo Book Fest is produced by Poudre River Public Library District in partnership with CSU Morgan Library and the City of Fort Collins Fort Fund.
