The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is pleased to announce the start of the renovation of Fort Collins’ crown jewel, Old Town Square. Join the City of Fort Collins and DDA in a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, February 11, at 4 p.m., at the Old Town Square stage. As part of the vibrant Downtown experience, the public plaza portion of Old Town Square has been heavily used over the last 30 years. The infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifecycle and maintenance costs have increased, providing the perfect time to create and implement a renovation plan. The DDA and its project team are committed to creating a high-quality, public gathering space that accommodates a variety of activities now and into the future. The final designs will also be on display during the groundbreaking ceremony.

The renovation construction team consists of the DDA, Ditesco Services, and Mortenson Construction. Renovations will continue through late August 2015. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Special Events During Renovation
With the renovation of Old Town Square in 2015, many familiar events will not be taking place in their usual locations. However, a robust schedule full of new activities is planned. Visit Old Town Square often to be part of the art, fun and entertainment!

The first event takes place Friday February 6; visit CooperSmith’s Pub as they tap a special construction-themed beer – Pardon our Disorder Facelift Porter. Other sample events include month-long activities with the Human Society of Larimer County, Front Range Community College student art projects, and interactive public art projects. In addition to scheduled events, the community will be happy to find surprise, pop-up activities throughout the renovation – everything from construction-themed story times to social media contests to scavenger hunts for prizes.
