The Group Inc. Real Estate announces it has hired Tom Flanagan to serve as Chief Technology Officer.
The Group Inc. Vice President / COO (and inaugural Chief Technology Officer) Brandon Wells said “Tom brings a wide range of marketing and technology experience, as well as a diverse skill set, that will greatly benefit our customers and Realtors.” Tom, his wife Kathy and daughter Marley are welcomed additions to The Group and our Northern Colorado communities.
Flanagan comes to The Group from the Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay Area where he served as vice president of technology for a luxury real estate brand. As The Group’s second chief technology officer, Flanagan is responsible for the company’s overall technology strategy. With almost two decades of experience in the tech sector, he brings a wide range of knowledge in design, mobile and cloud computing.
Tom was also a nationally syndicated columnist for Inman News, a leading source of independent real estate news and information. His column explored best practices in web development, mobile apps and cloud computing that real estate companies could leverage to scale their business and operate more efficiently.
Additionally, Tom has served as a featured speaker at both local and national events, including Real Estate Connect and the Google IT Summit. He was a recipient of the Rhode Island Tech 10 Award which recognized overall achievement and most recently was added to the “Inman Influencers List” as one of the top 100 most influential people in real estate.
As a graduate of the New England Institute of Technology with a degree in multimedia, Tom’s skill set lies at the intersection of marketing and technology. “These are exciting times in that space,” he explains. “Emerging technologies such as Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality, connected home devices and voice assistants are changing the landscape of how people buy and sell real estate. My goal is to leverage these emerging platforms and provide an exceptional experience that will benefit The Group’s Realtors and customers.”
There’s a misconception that innovation only happens in Silicon Valley. That is certainly not the case, Flanagan believes. “Fort Collins is innovating in numerous sectors, particularly in environmental services such as alternative energy production, transportation and recycling programs. These are important items that define communities and are so important to the real estate industry. I’m excited to learn more about Northern Colorado and hopefully add value to these wonderful communities.”
The Group, Inc., was founded in 1976 and is an independent, 100% employee-owned company. It has six locations in Fort Collins and Loveland, 230 partners and is involved in more annual real estate transactions in Northern Colorado than any other organization. www.thegroupinc.com.
