CHECK PRESENTATION TO UCHEALTH FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,266.53

The Human Bean of Northern Colorado presented a check to UCHealth on November 17 for $27,266.53. These funds were collected during their annual Coffee for a Cure event throughout the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This 15-year tradition, which is usually held on one date, was modified this year to accommodate COVID restrictions and was celebrated over four Fridays throughout the month.

All 10 locations donated 100% of sales on customized pink packs of free drinks and other swag; with the additional contributions made by staff and customers, Human Bean was able to raise a total of $54,533.06.

”Human Bean has been a part of the northern Colorado community since 2004. During that time this annual Human Bean event has grown larger each year and has raised over $400,000 dollars that has remained local,” said Owner of The Human Bean of Northern Colorado, Frank Sherman. “It provides financial relief to cancer patients for real life needs while they are being treated for a deadly disease. The generous support from our community is humbling for me. The fact that we contribute 100% of all sales each year is our commitment to those patients.”

During the Coffee for a Cure event, various Human Bean locations hosted doctors, nurses and other connected individuals as guest baristas throughout the day. Customers had the opportunity to talk to the guest baristas about the program’s benefits and how the money will be used, and also share stories of themselves and loved ones who have battled cancer or continue to fight.

Since the start of this annual event in 2005, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado has been able to return over $400,000 to local cancer patients from this single event. This local fundraiser has grown to be a staple and major contributor for local foundations that have come to depend on these funds. All monies remain in northern Colorado providing financial assistance to overcome barriers related to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, and all cancers, for patients at local Banner and UCHealth facilities.

The total amount raised was equally allocated between Banner and UCHealth foundations.
