Steve Roberts with Crescent Sun Pictures pre-recorded this on-demand concert at Timberline Church where musicians and dancers were masked and socially distanced. The 28-minute performance features the classic symphonic folk tale written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. In 1936, he was commissioned to write a musical story for children. The intent was to introduce children to individual instruments in the orchestra. As a narrator tells the story, the orchestra highlights the characters with musical themes by using four specific instrument families: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

The Musical Zoo is the Friends of the Symphony’s signature community education program. Musical Zoo 2021 is supported by generous grants and sponsorships from the City of Fort Collins Fort Fund, Friends of the Symphony, Fort Collins Symphony, Canyon Concert Ballet, and an anonymous donor.
