FORT COLLINS, Colo. (August 29, 2023) – Over 100 players teed off at the Fort Collins Country Club on August 21 for the 2nd annual Stewart & Hanrahan Golf Invitational, raising $24,400 for WomenGive, a local program of United Way for Larimer County that provides support and financial assistance through childcare scholarships to single mothers pursuing postsecondary education.

“WomenGive has been part of a lot of golf tournaments and the Stewart & Hanrahan Golf Invitational is by far not only a great fundraiser but also a great friend raiser. Everyone who comes to play is such a great supporter of our community,” said Madisen Golden, United Way of Larimer County’s Leadership Giving Director. “The entire afternoon is a lot of fun, and the generosity at this event is contagious.”

The golf tournament is a friendly competition and inspiration where players enjoyed the day and contributed to making a life-changing impact for moms and their children. The fun day included a long putt contest, closest to the pin contest, betting hole, dinner and award presentation to top scores. By the end of the day, enough money was raised to fund 10 scholarships for WomenGive!

“Although our names are on the tournament, this event is all about single mothers and children in need,” said event co-founder, John Hanrahan. “When Scott and I met a few years ago and discussed doing a charity golf tournament, we wanted to choose an organization where we could help make a difference and was also close to our hearts. WomenGive is a program of United Way of Larimer County my wife has supported since day one. After remembering how much childcare can cost for a family – let alone a single mom wanting to pursue an education – we knew we could make an immediate impact with WomenGive.”

For co-founders John Hanrahan and Scott Stewart, the event combines their passion for golf
and their desire to give back to the community. Each is a parent, and each knows how
important childcare is to young parents. Stewart is a Colorado native and is an avid golfer and Class A member of the PGA. He has worked as a mortgage professional for more than 23 years, currently working for Bank of Colorado. Hanrahan is a retired PGA professional and worked as the Head Golf Professional at the Fort Collins Country Club for 25 years. He made the transition to real estate in 2015. He and his wife, Connie Hanrahan, have been longtime supporters of WomenGive. In fact, Connie is a WomenGive Charter Member. She is also owner of Mantooth Company, the marketing agency that helped execute the event.
