FORT COLLINS, COLO. – June 13, 2017 – The Lagoon Summer Concert Series has always been known for bringing in performers of diverse musical genres. The second concert of the 2017 season will be no exception when reggae band Tatanka takes the stage. Music lovers can catch this unique band on Wednesday, June 21, 6-8:30 p.m., on the west lawn of Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center.
Tatanka embodies a traditional Caribbean reggae sound mixed with pop influences from the Britannica-American reggae scenes. The group is known for its positive lyrics and heavy sounds that draw in audiences across the country and beyond.
The four-man band was formed in Denver by four college friends and has received several notable honors, including “Breakout Artist of the Year” (2014) by The Pier, High Times “Unsigned Band of the Month” (2011), and nominated by Westword magazine for “Colorado’s Reggae/Jam Band of the Year” (2015). Its most recent album, also titled “Tatanka,” debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae charts and #4 on billboard’s reggae charts. Learn more at tatankadub.com.
Little Kid Rock Band, “My Dog Ate Chad,” will have the pleasure of opening for Danielle Ate the Sandwich on Aug. 3. Those in attendance may also enjoy cuisine from various local food trucks: Umami, Austin Taco, Sustainable Spoon, Ba-nom-a-nom and The Human Bean Coffee Truck.
The Lagoon Summer Concert Series will run for eight weeks throughout the summer and feature a variety of music styles, including country, reggae, folk, rock and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for an enjoyable evening of free music. Residents should be cautioned that there is no parking allowed on Plum Drive.
