The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce is sharing community news from Poudre River Public Library District and the NoCo Foundation regarding the planned sale of the Council Tree Library property to the NoCo Foundation.

According to the announcement from Poudre Libraries and NoCo Foundation, the organizations are under contract for the sale of the Council Tree Library property at 2733 Council Tree Ave., Suite 200, with plans to finalize the transaction later this year. Proceeds from the sale will support the Library District’s portion of the Southeast Community Center project.

After the sale is finalized, the Library District will lease back the Council Tree Library property from NoCo Foundation and continue library operations onsite until the move to the Southeast Community Center. This approach is expected to limit disruption to library service ahead of the new facility’s opening in 2028.

Why This Matters

Investments in libraries, community spaces and philanthropic infrastructure are part of what makes a region strong. This announcement reflects long-term civic planning and partnership that can help support quality of life, community connection and regional vitality.

The Southeast Community Center project was scheduled to break ground on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. When completed, the facility is expected to include multi-use spaces for recreation, fitness, creativity, innovation and intergenerational programs, along with a state-of-the-art public library and indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities.

The NoCo Foundation’s planned move into the Council Tree Library location will expand its presence in a well-known community space and support its work as a regional convener, philanthropic partner and catalyst for local initiatives.

The Chamber recognizes the importance of community-serving institutions in supporting quality of life, workforce attraction and regional economic vitality. Strong civic infrastructure helps create the conditions where businesses, families and communities can thrive.
