Products and campaigns come and go, but relationships endure. Solid relationships are what set the foundation for Mantooth Marketing Company’s success and have been key to its staying power amidst a finicky industry and financial climate. This month, the company is toasting to 20 years.  What started as a company of only two in 1995 has grown into a company of 18 employees, contractors, and interns enjoying different relationships every month that come in the way of a portfolio of fifty clients.

“I started Mantooth because I wanted to work with like-minded, community-driven small businesses to give them strong marketing and PR without a huge budget,” said Owner of Mantooth Marketing Company, Connie Hanrahan, “People told me it wouldn’t be successful, and here we are 20 years later.”

It seems the Mantooth Marketing Company was destined for success right from the start. The name Mantooth means “strong lead” in Native American Cherokee. Hanrahan has led Mantooth to become one of BizWest’s “100 Fastest Growing Companies in Northern Colorado” and 2014’s “Small Business of the Year” by the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce. Hanrahan herself was voted a “Women of Influence” by BizWest and “Outstanding Mentor of the Year” by the Northern Colorado Women of Distinction.

All honors are greatly appreciated, but it is that last one, for being recognized as an outstanding mentor that is particularly special to Hanrahan. Hanrahan makes it part of her mission to help nurture and guide strong female entrepreneurs. “After founding Mantooth, I noticed a lack of strong independent women in business. I began coaching young women and hiring female interns so they could feel confident when they got their first job out of college,” she said. Today, ninety-five percent of the Mantooth Marketing staff is women.

It is no surprise that Mantooth Marketing celebrated their 20th anniversary with a 60s-themed “Mad Women” styled celebration. The event took place poolside at the Fort Collins Country Club. Guests enjoyed heavy appetizers, cocktails that included a vodka tasting bar, live music from Wendy Woo and a photo booth complete with an old typewriter and candy cigarettes. The event also served to raise nearly $2,500 for Pathways Hospice, an organization close to Hanrahan’s heart.

Looking toward the future, Mantooth Marketing Company will continue to grow organically, adapting to the ever changing needs of clients and the industry, while maintaining a client roster that complements its values and commitments.
