The Mission Fort Collins Serving Larimer County Announces New Name

Jun 16, 2021 | Member News

The Mission Fort Collins Serving Larimer County, a shelter run by the regional office of Catholic Charities, is changing its name to Samaritan House Fort Collins. The name change was announced Saturday evening, June 12 at the Meal with a Mission event. The event is a celebration of the heroic efforts of the nonprofit’s team, volunteers and benefactors, so was the most fitting place to make the announcement.

“Changing the name to Samaritan House Fort Collins is a meaningful and descriptive evolution for our ministry. Not only does it distinguish our services in Larimer County with a strong brand, but it acknowledges a significant shift in focus and service delivery, aligning more closely with our larger organizational prioritization of providing for women and families with children through all of life’s stages,” explained Catholic Charities Regional Director, Joe Domko.

“As people who endeavor to be true good Samaritans, we will continue to lean into our calling, collaborating with our parishes, fellow service providers and municipal partners, continually striving for creative ways to meet and overcome the challenges of the day, offering meaning in the midst of suffering, accompaniment along the way and hope for a better day to come.”

The mission and vision of the organization remain the same as they have been since their inception. For 32 years, Catholic Charities of Larimer County has been a leader in advocating for the community’s most vulnerable and marginalized members. The regional office in Larimer County serves residents of Fort Collins, Loveland and the surrounding area, which includes operating The Mission – now Samaritan House – a shelter helping families, single men and women, veterans, and seniors threatened by homelessness. In addition to a place to stay, their clients are partnered with a case manager to provide guidance and resources with the goal that they will each obtain stable income and housing.

Samaritan House Fort Collins will continue to provide the same services in the same building located at 460 Linden Center Drive in Fort Collins.
