Take Part in the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 Vaccine Trial
UCHealth and the Medical Center of the Rockies Research would like to give you the opportunity to take part in the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine trial.
What is the AZD1222 COVID VACCINE Study?
The AZD1222 COVID-19 VACCINE Study will research an investigational vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The study is looking at how well the investigational vaccine works and how safe it is.
There is currently no approved vaccine for COVID-19. The investigational vaccine is still in the testing and evaluation phase and is not licensed for use in the general public. In this study, participants will be randomly assigned (by chance) to receive 2 injections of either the investigational vaccine or placebo (4 weeks apart). A placebo looks like the investigational vaccine but contains no active vaccine. There is twice as much chance of receiving the investigational vaccine than of receiving the placebo.
The study is now enrolling volunteers who may be at risk of COVID-19. Approximately 30,000 participants from the United States will take part in this study.
What to expect:
You will be in the AZD1222 COVID-19 VACCINE Study about 2 years.
Several tests and assessments will be performed to monitor your health. These will include:
- Questions about your health, any medications you have taken, and how you are feeling
- Physical examinations
- Measurements of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature, etc.)
- Blood tests
- A COVID-19 test
You do not have to be a patient or employee of UCHealth to participate in the study. All study visits will occur in Loveland, Colorado.
