The City of Fort Collins will be conducting work on the underground utilities at the intersection of Elizabeth and Shields from Dec. 21 through Dec. 23.  All work will occur after the morning rush hour and end before the afternoon rush hour between the hours of 8:30a.m. and 3:30p.m.

In an attempt to minimize impacts to traffic, residents and business owners the City has selected dates that coincide with Poudre School District’s and Colorado State University’s Winter Breaks. Delays are expected to be minimal with minor lane drops and lane shifts during this time.

However, travelers and commuters are encouraged to adjust their route if possible and allow themselves plenty of extra time in case of delay. Bike and pedestrian users will also experience temporary bike lane closures and sidewalk closures during this time, so for the easiest commute we ask the users please consider alternate routes. All local resident and business access will also remain open during throughout this work.

City Engineers will be conducting utility potholing work required in order to determine the feasibility of future intersection improvements. As always the City asks that drivers please slow down and be considerate of workers when driving through the work zone.

Current weather forecasts look promising but in the case of severe weather these work dates may need to be rescheduled. Please visit FCgov.com for the latest updates or contact the Project Manager with any additional questions, comments or concerns regarding this work.
