Parking Improvements are Coming to Downtown (Fort Collins)

Aug 29, 2018 | Member News

The purpose of these projects is to make parking Downtown easier, more efficient, more predictable, and to assist Fort Collins Parking Services in providing the best customer service possible.

ON-STREET PARKING SENSORS
Sensors are being installed in approximately 3,000 on-street parking spaces Downtown. The sensor technology sends information to the FC Parking App to show available parking spaces and provide information to staff about parking occupancy and turnover. This will inform on-street policies such as Pay-to-Stay and extended hours of enforcement.

The sensor installation process will require closing ~100 spaces at a time over a 24-
hour period. The installation schedule is being carefully coordinated with Downtown businesses, events, and consideration of high-demand parking spaces.

PARKING STRUCTURE
RETROFITS AND MAINTENANCE

TWO PROJECTS:
• Regular sealant maintenance
• Update of Old Town and Civic Center parking structures with the same pre- pay technology as the Firehouse Alley

Structure (pre-pay by app or by pay-station). Sensors in the structures will show availability in the FC Parking App.
Old Town parking structure: The entire facility closed August 20–September 1.
Civic Center: Rolling closures of 75 to 100 spaces will occur starting Fall 2018.

Firehouse Alley Parking Structure is available
