FORT COLLINS, COLO. – July 6, 2016 – On July 13, 2016, Greeley-based band, The Burroughs, will bring their trademark sound of “Sweaty Soul Music” to the Lagoon Summer Concert Series stage. The concert begins at 6 p.m. on the west lawn of Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center and is free and open to the public.

Led by front man and lead vocalist Johnny Burroughs, the nine members of The Burroughs deliver authentic soul music through a four-piece horn section and powerhouse rhythm section. They compare their style to some of the greatest soul legends, including Etta James and Ray Charles, and continuously wow audiences with hits of the past and original creations.

Backing up Johnny Burroughs is guitarist Sean Hagemeister, keyboardist and organist Tom Amend, bassist Brian Claxton, drummer Mary Claxton, trumpeter Alec Bell, saxophonists Briana Harris and Hayden Farr, and trombonist Jeremy Fallis.

Although each band member proudly hails from Greeley, The Burroughs has graced the stages of some of the most prominent venues and festivals in the northern Colorado region. FoCoMX, New West Fest, The Aggie, the Boulder Theater and The High Dive in Denver are just a few highlights from their resume. In addition, the band released their first full-length album in July 2015 and recently released two new singles “You Are My Joy” and “1968.”

Opening for The Burroughs on July 13 is Tavelli Elementary School, part of Little Kid Rock Band. The event will further feature a special intermission presentation by Project Self-Sufficiency and Houska Automotive. Project Self-Sufficiency will present Alma Rosa, mother of three and Project Self-Sufficiency participant, with a van refurbished by Houska Automotive. Rosa works full-time to support her family and is making strides within the Project Self-Sufficiency program to attain career success in the medical field.
