For the last six weeks thousands of music fans have been enjoying the Lagoon Summer Concert Series, one of Northern Colorado’s favorite family-friendly events. Hosted on the west lawn of the Colorado State University Lory Student Center, this popular summer tradition brings together friends and families on Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for live music, activities, sponsored booths and great dinner options from food trucks.
The series will host its final performance this Wednesday, July 27. Taking the stage for the grand finale is Northern Colorado favorite, Wendy Woo. Her energetic personality, musical skills and spirited songwriting have made her a media and fan favorite. Wendy has been named Westword Magazine’s Music Awards “Singer/Songwriter of the year” five separate times, resulting in her induction into Westword’s Hall of Fame.
Emceeing Wednesday’s concert will be radio personality, Andy Blanton, of KRFC 88.9 FM. Blanton hosts “In Tune with Andy Blanton.” Blanton has been on the radio for over 15 years. Originally from Middletown, Ohio, Blanton and his sister shared a radio and loved listening to music from the early 60’s, from folk to rock, Motown and acid rock–all the great sounds he shares on his program.
Music fans beyond Lagoon attendees will also get to enjoy the concert. KRFC 88.9 FM will be broadcasting Wendy Woo’s performance live!
Attendees should bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs, kids and leashed pets to enjoy the show. Food trucks will be on site offering a great choice of dinner, snacks and drinks, including The Goodness Truck, The Sweaty Moose, Gelato and aMore, Ba-Nom-a-Nom and Human Bean of Northern Colorado. Additionally, Colorado State University (CSU) athletes will be on site. Kids and sports fans can say hi and play around with them on the field.
The concert series is presented by Canvas Credit Union, Colorado State University and Mantooth Company. Additional series sponsors include Poudre River Library District, Outpost Sunsport, DaVinci Signs, Big O Tires of Fort Collins, The Group Real Estate, City of Fort Collins, Breeze Thru Car Wash, Dellenbach Motors, Cornerstone Home Lending, Houska Automotive, NOCO Style, North Forty News, The New Scene, The Rocky Mountain Collegian, KRFC 88.9 FM and iHeartMedia. CSU will be hosting booths for CSU School of Music, Theatre & Dance, CSU Online and CSU Languages Department. Mantooth is proud to have produced the Lagoon Concert Series – and to have brought great fun to Northern Colorado – for 25 years! Since its inception, there have been 153 band performances, approximately 187,000 music-loving attendees, and there have been six car giveaways!
