Fort Collins, COLO., (June 9, 2016) – Houska Automotive invites the community to its free Garage Band Event June 18, 2016, 6-9 p.m., at its location, 899 Riverside Avenue in Fort Collins. The event is a fundraiser to benefit Redeemer Lutheran Church’s K-9 Comfort Dog, Cubby, which has brought encouragement and healing to the northern Colorado community since April 2016.

Cubby the Comfort Dog is a purebred Golden Retriever and arrived at Redeemer Lutheran as part of Lutheran Church Charities’ K-9 Comfort Dog Program, an independent non-profit affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The dogs are trained to interact with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, events, and in disaster response situations to offer a calming presence.

“Cubby has done tremendous work in our community by bringing comfort to those who have experienced tragedy, trauma or are just in need of peace,” said Kathy Tripcony, Top Dog of the K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry at Redeemer Lutheran Church. “The love exuded by a furry friend like Cubby is therapeutic and introduces people to the compassion of Jesus.”

The funds raised by the event will go towards the care and support of Cubby and her services. The evening will include live and silent auctions, live entertainment from a local band, great barbeque, and community and fellowship. The goal is to raise $15,000 through the auctions and donations.

Houska Automotive has hosted numerous Garage Band Events and other philanthropic initiatives in the past, including ones to benefit the Bone Marrow Donor Program and Connor Walsh, a local teen who was left paralyzed after a hit-and-run accident.
