FORT COLLINS, Colo. – July 12, 2017 – Houska Automotive, a family owned and community-focused automotive shop in Fort Collins, is proud to present a refurbished car to Project Self-Sufficiency participant, Irma, at the Lagoon Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, July 19. The concert runs from 6-8:30 p.m. and takes place on the west lawn of Lory Student Center at CSU. The vehicle presentation will happen during the concert’s intermission at approximately 7 p.m.

“Project Self-Sufficiency is such a valuable resource for hardworking, struggling families in northern Colorado,” said Jennifer Houska. “We are excited to help Irma with this important step towards independence.

Irma is a single mother to her two children – Jazlyn and Iker – and began her degree program at Front Range Community College in 2017. After obtaining her Associates of Arts Degree at Front Range, she plans to transfer to Colorado State University to major in business with a concentration in human resources. While attending school, Irma works full time at the Department of Human Services in the Women, Infant and Children office. She is also the recipient of a Habitat for Humanity home, which she helped build.

To aid in Irma’s journey to self-sufficiency, Houska Automotive made numerous repairs to a 2003 Subaru Outback, including replacing the engine, timing belt, cylinder head gasket, etc. In addition, all body work on the vehicle was donated by Josh Hodge at Set It Off. This is only one of the many ways that Houska has supported organizations and individuals in recent years. Past fundraisers hosted by Houska have benefited Overland Sertoma Club, Elli’s Deli, Redeemer Lutheran Church’s K-9 Comfort Dog, among several others.

Houska has done this uplifting vehicle presentation for the past several years during the Lagoon Summer Concert Series. Representatives from Houska and Project Self-Sufficiency will speak onstage prior to handing over the keys to Irma and her family.
