FORT COLLINS, CO – The Fort Collins Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney, will host the first of two “From the Lincoln Center (New York) to the Lincoln Center (Fort Collins) concerts on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The concerts will showcase the talents of two guest artist musicians from the New York Philharmonic: Michelle Kim on violin and Joe Alessi on trombone (February 4, 2017).
The Enfant Terrible and the Tunesmith concert on November 5, 2016 features violinist Michelle Kim, Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, performing Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. Ms. Kim has been Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic since 2001. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, New Jersey Philharmonic, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and Pacific Symphony. A student of Robert Lipsett and a former Presidential Scholar, Ms. Kim graduated from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music as a Starling Foundation scholarship recipient.
The orchestra will also perform Sergei Prokofiev’s beguiling Symphony No. 1 in D major and Georges Bizet’s delightful Symphony No. 1 in C major.
