FORT COLLINS, COLO. – February 16, 2018 – The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce was recognized for its Northern Colorado Prospers 5-Year Initiative and as a result received the Outstanding Program Award from the Western Association of Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.). The award was given during the 2018 W.A.C.E Annual Conference held February 7-9 in Henderson, Nevada.

W.A.C.E. is a professional development organization and provides training and support for chamber executives and staff in 19 Western states and Canada, with more than 800 members.

Northern Colorado Prospers is the Chamber’s $3.8 million campaign to address Northern Colorado’s main business challenges: transportation (Fix North 1-25), labor force, business environment and retaining key employers.

“All recipients (5 in total) were deemed to excel in one or more areas,” said Dave Kilby, President of W.A.C.E. “When you look at this (campaign), it’s tackling big issues. Northern Colorado Prospers is a shining example of what all chambers should do.”

During the review of award applications, W.A.C.E. looks for chamber programs that “meet and exceed the requirements of performing in a core competency area and/or provide an exemplary example being a 3C Chamber – a Catalyst, Convener, or Champion.” The submitted program must have “met or exceeded the chamber’s goals and MUST be able to be replicated by other chambers.”

“This award signifies the instrumental work that is being done through Northern Colorado Prospers,” said David May, President & CEO, and who accepted the award on the Chamber’s behalf. “It’s a tribute to the Chamber Board and the Northern Colorado Prospers investors. They are focusing on big issues that matter to our area. They deserve this recognition.”
