The City’s Economic Health Office will host a local “Best for Colorado Challenge” launch event on July 13th, where aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners and employees can learn about a free online sustainability assessment tool, and even benchmark their businesses against similar companies around the country on a variety of metrics.
The “Best for Colorado” event will be 6-7:30 p.m. at New Belgium Brewing Co., 500 Linden St., in Fort Collins. Registration is required because space is limited. To register for the event, go to http://bestforco.app.rsvpify.com/.
Fort Collins-area companies that complete the assessment by December 11, 2017, will also be entered in the “Best for Colorado” competition. Winners will be recognized by Gov. John Hickenlooper in December at Boettcher Mansion.
The Best for Colorado Challenge encourages companies to take the confidential, online “B-Impact Assessment” to benchmark their impact on workers, communities, and the environment with similar businesses across the country. The tool, which takes 20 minutes to complete, provides best practices and free tools to improve profitability and sustainability.
Colorado State University business and sustainability students will be at the July 13 event at New Belgium with laptops to help interested businesses and entrepreneurs explore these free tools and take the Best for Colorado assessment.
As of June 2, more than 125 businesses in Colorado had completed the assessment, including New Belgium. The “B-Impact Assessment” tool is used by 55,000 companies around the world. For more information and to take the assessment, go to https://best-for-colorado.bimpactassessment.net/.
The City’s Economic Health Office – part of the Sustainability Services Area – assists partners to preserve the community’s entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual property and inventions.
