Tammy Rivera, managing partner of BKD’s Denver, Colorado Springs and Salt Lake City offices, received the Leader of Note Award from the Colorado Society of CPAs.

Rivera was recognized for making a difference for her clients and within the firm, the accounting profession and the community. Her passion for providing client service to the healthcare sector has boosted clients’ performance and helped them meet vital compliance requirements. As the firm transitioned to virtual formats for communication, training and regulation and accounting updates during the pandemic, Rivera led a firmwide virtual conference for healthcare clients and prospects on provider relief funding and its related spending compliance.

“She saw a need and led the charge to make sure that we continued to serve as trusted advisors to our clients,” says BKD Regional Managing Partner Jeff Ronsse.

Tammy encourages and innovates when it comes to enriching organizational culture and fostering diversity and inclusion. In 2014, she was appointed to the inaugural committee to launch BKD’s SKY Initiative, a diversity and inclusion endeavor. In 2019, she chaired BKD’s diversity and inclusion subcommittee, which focuses on attracting, retaining and developing women and diverse leaders.

Tammy leads by example in the community and healthcare industry. She has been involved with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado for more than a decade and has held the positions of board member, executive team member and president. She was named president-elect of the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Colorado Chapter and will become president on June 1, 2022.
