Project Self-Sufficiency recognizes United Way of Larimer County WomenGive, as the 2018 recipient of the Vision Maker Award. At Project Self-Sufficiency, we have the bold vision that every low-income, single parent in Larimer County is selfpowered to become self-sufficient. We know that we cannot accomplish this vision alone, and we rely on the expertise and resources of our community partners to leverage our impact. We have many partners, including donors, nonprofit organizations, government, educational institutions, investors, businesses, and volunteers. The Project Self-Sufficiency Vision Maker Award celebrates an organization, business or person who has been instrumental in advancing our mission. Past winners of this award include:

2011 Janene Dellenbach
2012 Linda Clark
2013 Mary Fuller
2014 Tom Tonoli
2015 Friends of Project Self-Sufficiency
2016 Loveland Housing Authority
2017 Cindy Bragdon

United Way of Larimer County WomenGive was presented with the Vision Maker Award at Project Self-Sufficiency’s Annual Community Luncheon, held on March 6. WomenGive provides much needed scholarships for quality childcare to single moms in Larimer County as they work on post-secondary educational goals. The Project Self-Sufficiency Participants who receive a scholarship from WomenGive obtain essential childcare funds that ensure their kids receive quality childcare while the Participant attends school. Today, 80% percent of WomenGive scholarship recipients are Project Self-Sufficiency program Participants.

Additionally, Project Self-Sufficiency and WomenGive have a shared employee, the WomenGive Navigator, who supports both missions – childcare scholarship awards, and case management for low-income single parents. WomenGive has also provided funds to leverage a matching grant from the Colorado Department of Higher Education in support of educational scholarships for Project Self-Sufficiency single parents and clients of the Larimer County Workforce Center. Tracy Mead, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency stated, “The synergy between the work done by Project Self-Sufficiency’s proven model implemented by our expert team of advisors, and childcare scholarships provided by WomenGive, is undeniable. We are grateful for WomenGive, and their important role in our work.”

Kim Winger, Co-Chair of WomenGive, stated, “WomenGive believes that collaboration is the most effective way to build resources and achieve lasting results for local families and children.” Winger also shared that in 2017, WomenGive celebrated their 100th graduate and have since seen three additional single moms graduate from the WomenGive Scholarship program.
