The Mountain West released its complete 2019 football schedule on Monday, including dates for Colorado State’s eight conference games.
The Rams begin Mountain West action on the road, traveling to Utah State (Sept. 28). Following the conference opener, CSU will return to Canvas Stadium and host San Diego State (Oct. 5).
From there, Colorado State will play at New Mexico on Oct. 12 before having its first of two bye weeks of the season on Oct. 19. Following the week off, the Rams head back on the road to Fresno State on Oct. 26.
CSU will play its second home league game of the season on Nov. 2 against UNLV before having its final bye week, Nov. 9.
Colorado State will finish the season with three opponents from the Mountain Division, including back-to-back rivalry games with Air Force (Nov. 16) at Canvas Stadium and at Wyoming (Nov. 23) before finishing the regular season hosting Boise State (Nov. 30).
Prior to its Mountain West slate, Colorado State will challenge itself with four non-conference dates, including two schools from Power-5 conferences. The 2019 season will begin with the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown against Colorado, (Aug. 30) in Denver. A week later, the Rams will host Western Illinois for its home opener on Sept. 7. On Sept 14, Colorado State will play at SEC opponent Arkansas before finishing its non-conference schedule on Sept. 21, hosting Toledo at Canvas Stadium.

Promotions and television selections have not been finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks. All dates are subject to change.
Additional Schedule Notes
The Rams will play four MW opponents at home this year (San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, and Boise State). They will play four non-conference opponents, two on the road and two at home: at Arkansas (SEC), Colorado (Pac-12) (Denver), Western Illinois (MVFC), and Toledo (MAC).
The Rams will have two bye weeks (Oct. 19 and Nov. 9) before matchups with MW opponents Fresno State (Away) and Air Force (Home).
CSU’s 11 FBS opponents went a combined 72-66 (.521) in 2018, with five playing in bowl games and two competing in a conference title game (Fresno State and Boise State).
2019 Colorado State Football Schedule
Friday, Aug. 30 vs. Colorado (Denver)
This will be the first time since 2016 that the Rams will open the season against the Buffaloes for 21st annual Rocky Mountain Showdown. This marks the ninth-consecutive, and final contest, that the programs will meet in Denver, with Colorado earning a 45-13 victory over Colorado State in 2018.
Saturday, Sept. 7 vs. Western Illinois
This marks the first time the Rams will match up against the Leathernecks in school history. Western Illinois is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Leathernecks finished 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the MVFC in 2018.
Saturday, Sept. 14 at Arkansas
This marks the fifth time the two programs will meet in school history. CSU has a 1-3 record against the Razorbacks, with all three Rams losses in Fayetteville. Last season’s game at Canvas Stadium proved to be a memorable one for the Rams, as they scored 25 unanswered points, including the winning touchdown with 8 seconds left to win, 34-27.
Saturday, Sept. 21 vs. Toledo
This will be the third time the programs will meet, dating back to 1970 at Toledo (a loss) and once in 1973 in Fort Collins (a win). Toledo finished the 2018 season with a 7-6 overall record. They have played in a bowl game in five of the last six seasons, including the Maker’s Wanted Bahamas Bowl last season.
Saturday, Sept. 28 at Utah State
The Rams fell to the Aggies in Fort Collins last season, 29-24, after a 34-yard touchdown pass with no time left was overturned by a penalty. The Rams are 39-34-2 all-time against Utah State. The Aggies competed in the Gildan Mexico Bowl last season.
Saturday, Oct. 5 vs. San Diego State
The last time the Rams and Aztecs met was Nov. 26, 2016 with the Rams coming away with a 63-31 victory at San Diego State. San Diego State finished 7-6 overall in the 2018 season earning them a spot in the Frisco Bowl. The Rams are 21-13 all-time in the series, with SDSU winning eight of the last 10 meetings.
Saturday, Oct. 12 at New Mexico
The Rams have beaten New Mexico nine consecutive times and hold a 42-25 advantage in the series. The Rams defeated the Lobos last season as the Rams made a 26-yard field goal as time expired to earn a 20-18 victory in Fort Collins for Homecoming Weekend.
Saturday, Oct. 19 – BYE
Saturday, Oct. 26 at Fresno State
CSU last met Fresno State in 2016, taking a 37-0 victory in Fort Collins. That was the Rams first shutout win since 1997. The Rams lead the series, 9-5. The Bulldogs won the Mountain West Conference Championship in 2018 and went on to beat Arizona State (Pac-12) in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Saturday, Nov. 2 vs. UNLV
The Rams last faced UNLV in 2016 and recorded a 42-23 victory. CSU is 16-6-1 all-time against UNLV, winning 16 of the last 19 games. UNLV finished 4-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play in 2018.
Saturday, Nov. 9 – BYE
Saturday, Nov. 16 vs. Air Force
Air Force has won the last three meetings between the programs, as CSU is 21-35-1 all-time in the series. Air Force ended with a 5-7 overall record and were 3-5 in MW play in 2018.
Saturday, Nov. 23 at Wyoming
CSU has played the Cowboys more than any other opponent with the Rams holding a 57-47-5 record in the series. The Rams fell to the Cowboys last season 34-21 in Fort Collins. This will be the 110th Border War dating back to 1900.
Saturday, Nov. 30 vs. Boise State
This game will mark the ninth meeting between the Rams and Broncos as CSU is seeking its first win against Boise State. The Broncos competed in the 2018 Mountain West Championship game last season and earned a spot in the First Responder Bowl.
