Fort Collins, CO— January 8, 2024; Front Range Community College will be hosting Be Mindful – It Matters, an interactive educational mental health exhibit designed and built by Centennial Area Health Education Center (CAHEC). The exhibit is comprised of three sections: Mindful Perspectives – offering education on various mental health conditions and insight from Northern Colorado community members living with mental health conditions; Mind Games – building on knowledge learned in Mindful Perspectives as well as cognitive skill building; and Coping Corner which includes interactive exercises for better mental health as well as national, state and local mental health resources. Be Mindful will be located at FRCC in the Grey’s Peak Building from January 13 – February 11.

The exhibit is slated to travel throughout CAHEC’s 12-county region in northeastern Colorado through 2024. Says Melissa Jensen, Executive Director of CAHEC, “Our job as an Area Health Education Center is to find unique ways to enhance the health of the communities we serve. While our various mental health partners provide direct services to help people positively cope with their struggles, we wanted to find a way to educate our communities about various aspects of mental health and to break down the stigmas surrounding mental health so people would take steps to understand and recognize their own issues. The brain is our body’s central command center so why don’t we work harder to understand it? Everyone has mental health issues at some point in their life either due to genetics or life circumstances or both. We need to build awareness and acceptance and give people tools and resources. That’s what this exhibit is all about – normalizing and prioritizing mental health.”

Be Mindful – It Matters is made possible by an Impact Fund grant from Larimer County Behavioral Health Services (only for Larimer County communities) and sponsorships by the Colorado Health Foundation, Connect for Health Colorado and Kaiser Permanente.
