The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is continuing its mission of preventing Veteran suicide by working with community organizations across the country, including Healing Warriors Program.

Through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP), Healing Warriors Program received a specialized grant from VA to support local Veterans, and began offering this program as soon as the guidelines were established.“Over the past few months since implementing this program, we have expanded the tools available to make an even larger difference in the lives of Veterans in our community,” said Chase Zajc, Healing Warriors Program’s new Executive Director. “I’m proud of our team’s vision for improving our community and excited to see the outcomes of this program as we continue to serve those at risk.”

The SSG Fox SPGP is a pilot, community-based grant program that will provide financial assistance to eligible entities to provide or coordinate providing suicide prevention services to eligible Veterans and their families. Eligible entities have been awarded one-year, renewable funding. With its SSG Fox SPGP award, Healing Warriors Program is expanding its program to provide even broader suicide prevention services to Veterans in the Northern Colorado area.

Providing Care and Preventing Suicides: The healing Warriors Program tackles suicide prevention through a four-fold approach, including Strengthening Access and Delivery of Care, Coping Tools, Resourcing and Promoting Connectedness.
