Fort Collins, Colo. (Dec. 5, 2016) – In 2007, the Blenkers family became the 33rd family to move into a Fort Collins Habitat home in February 2007. To express their gratitude for Fort Collins Habitat, they are now hosting the “Lights for Habitat” light show and celebration at their home for the community to enjoy. The show takes place at 321 and 325 Albion Way in Fort Collins and runs from Nov. 26, 2016 – Jan. 1, 2017.
“We couldn’t be more blessed, thanks to Habitat,” said Hans and Darlene Blenkers. “Dedicating our light display is just one of the ways that we are giving back to Habitat and our community.”
Each year since 2009, the Blenkers decorate their home with more than 50,000 lights and sets them to a daily music lineup, featuring a mix of Christmas songs and other favorites that can be accessed by tuning in to 89.1 FM. The display plays 5-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. On Christmas Eve, Santa Claus will make a guest appearance to hand out hot chocolate and stuffed animals to children.
Throughout the past seven years, the Blenkers have raised more than $11,000 for Fort Collins Habitat. Guests are encouraged to make a contribution while attending the light show. Donations are accepted onsite in a secure box or can be made online at lightsforhabitat.com.
