(Fort Collins, CO—Dec. 9, 2016) – Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, an exceptional and sustainability-oriented seafood restaurant located at 123 N. College Ave. in downtown Fort Collins, invites the community to dine with them for a special Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. The Feast will feature several courses of fresh seafood and other exquisite dishes prepared by Jax Chef Ricky Myers. This is an opportunity for the community to experience a custom that is enjoyed by Italian-Americans around the country right here in Fort Collins.
“The holidays are a time to gather with loved ones and create traditions,” said Jax General Manager Rick Compton. “The Feast of the Seven Fishes allows us to introduce the community to a new cultural tradition while also introducing them to different fish dishes in an enjoyable atmosphere over which friends and family can bond.”
The Feast of the Seven Fishes, or Festa dei Sette Pesci, is a long-standing Italian-American tradition that originated in Southern Italy, where it is known as “La Vigilia”. It is a grand meal enjoyed by family and friends on Christmas Eve and, as the name implies, consists of seven different fish dishes.
This is the third year that Jax has brought this tradition to northern Colorado. They will be serving seven types of seafood dishes: oyster, tuna, crab, anchovy and baby octopus salad, clams, swordfish and mussels. Although this custom has been enjoyed in other locations and cultures for many years, Jax is the only restaurant in the area that is offering this unique meal on Christmas Eve.
“I had always wanted to serve this Christmas Eve feast to the northern Colorado community,” said Chef Myers. “Jax gave me the creative outlet to fulfill that wish and introduce Coloradans to an authentic Italian holiday celebration. Our guests will leave fat and happy!”
Cost to attend is $55 per person. There will additionally be an optional bottomless wine offering (red, white or both), and a discounted wine bottles menu. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (970) 682-2275.
