Background
The Colorado State University (CSU) System is comprised of three universities (Colorado State
University, Colorado State University-Pueblo and CSU Global), each with very distinct roles and
missions. The universities in the CSU System serve the state, region, country and the world,
educating over 40,000 new and returning scholars annually. Highly skilled graduates number more
than 6,800 a year. This Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) pertains to CSU in Fort Collins.

Colorado State University in Fort Collins, the System’s flagship, is a doctoral-granting tier 1 research
university with a student body of roughly 33,000, total operating budget of $1.6 billion and
employing 7,600 faculty and staff. As the only land-grant institution in the state, CSU has been
serving Colorado since 1870. CSU boasts top-ranked business, veterinary medicine, and journalism
schools, as well as groundbreaking research in atmospheric sciences, infectious disease, and clean
energy technologies.
The mission of the Lory Student Center is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of
campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active,
engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a
comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers.
The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and
650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 22,000 people entering the facility on a daily
basis and hosts approximately 12,000 annual events and meetings. Areas within the Lory Student
Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Marketing; Operations; Student Leadership,
Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE); an extensive array of business and service
partners; and Lory Dining Services. The LSC is a 370,000 square foot facility located in the center of
campus with the residence halls to the west and the academic corridor to the east. The city of Fort
Collins Transit Authority operates one of three Transit Centers from the LSC and is located on the
north end of the LSC.
