NORTHERN COLORADO, Nov. 6, 2017 – The Human Bean, a local drive-thru coffee shop that is well-known for its community involvement, raised $52,463.79 during its recent Coffee for a Cure day. On Friday, Oct. 20, all eight northern Colorado Human Bean locations donated 100 percent of sales to local cancer projects. Sales from the Larimer County locations totaled $23,339.68 and benefited the Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation Oncology Patient and Family Support Fund. Sales from the Weld County locations totaled $29,195.11 and benefited the North Colorado Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund.

“Cancer is a disease that affects everyone, in some shape or form,” said Frank Sherman, owner of The Human Bean. “The Human Bean is proud to rally support for those battling cancer and is committed to raising awareness for this cause.”
The 2016 Coffee for a Cure day raised just over $50,000, making 2017 the most successful Coffee for a Cure to date. This is the largest fundraiser event that The Human Bean of Northern Colorado executes throughout the year.

The Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies Oncology Patient and Family Support fund helps cancer patients pay for basic needs after diagnosis, including insurance premiums, prescriptions, co-pays for office visits/procedures and more.

The North Colorado Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund provides financial support to qualified Weld County residents for breast imaging, biopsies, treatment and basic needs to women with breast cancer.

To support these organizations to the fullest extent, The Human Bean added components to Coffee for a Cure: drawings for grand prize giveaways for Human Bean swag and signature gifts only offered during Coffee for a Cure. In addition, The Human Bean unveiled its own Snapchat filter that customers could use surrounding their stands on the day of. With each use of the filter, The Human Bean donated an additional $1 to the above funds, totaling nearly $600.
