As we begin our countdown to 2024, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ann, and the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce’s team, for offering effective solutions to businesses through meaningful connections. Thanks to the many networking opportunities offered year-round, we’ve built long-lasting relationships with local businesses, and we have even recruited new board members!
For over 28 years, The Family Center/La Familia has served working families in Northern Colorado, where multi-generations of migrant families live, play, work and contribute to build a more vibrant and diverse community. Our Family Resource Center is one of 33 in Colorado that serves more than 500 families annually through three pillars of service: The first pillar is through El Nidito, our state licensed, Colorado Shines Level 4 rated, Early Care and Education (ECE) Program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and is also a site of the recently launched Universal Pre-K; the second pillar is our Family Support Program, our bilingual home and community-based services utilizing a strengths-based family-centered approach to support the whole family. The third pillar of service is Mi Voz, our leadership development program dedicated to making positive changes in mobile home parks and the North College corridor by utilizing community strengths to create community-led solutions.
At “La Familia”, we are committed to eliminating barriers to employment and education. We work to bring solutions to the crisis in childcare by generating a highly valued early childhood education workforce. An example of our work is the recently formed partnership with the Front Range Community College to offer students across Colorado the option to take three online early childhood education courses in Spanish. This is a milestone for dual and monolingual students willing to earn an Early Childhood Education Certificate to either join the workforce or create their own childcare business.
