The 31st annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival is in Golden this year, and premier luxury bus transportation to and from the fabulous festivities on Saturday, June 15, is being offered by the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures.

“We will travel from Fort Collins to experience the rich cultural heritage of Scandinavia,” said Barbara Schoenberger, the Museum’s Executive Director. “Kristina Feste-Hanson, co-director of the Scandinavian Alliance of Colorado, will welcome us and provide reserved, shady seating at tables near the stage.”

Arranging the trip is the Museum’s Global Adventures club, designed for those who love to travel, want to recount their travel experiences, delight in sharing stories of travel, and/or dream of traveling one day. The club’s hostess for the adventure is Alice Owen, a Fort Collins resident of Scandinavian heritage.

The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival welcomes over 80 artisans, organizations, and performers to share their culture and traditions through food, crafts, demonstrations, and entertainment. Participants will enjoy the raising of – and dancing around – the Midsummer Pole, the Scandinavian Market, the Fjellborg Vikings in their living history encampment, storytelling and games with Leif the Viking, making crafts such as flower crowns, and the Scandinavian Classic Car Show by the Rocky Mountain Volvo Group.

Transportation tickets are $80 per person, and registration and signed waiver are required by 5 pm Friday, June 7, at globalvillagemuseum.org. Admission to the Festival is free, and registrants will pay for their own food and shopping. Registrants are also asked to bring a cell phone to maintain contact with the group.

The luxurious NOCO Party Bus will depart at 8:30 am from Harmony Park and Ride, on the northwest corner of I-25 and Harmony Road. The return trip will arrive by 4 pm at the same location. The bus has all synthetic leather interiors, special audio and lighting systems, and plenty of bottled water.

If the weather is not conducive for the outdoor Festival, the bus will drive around Golden, catching the sights and stopping at the Sherpa House Restaurant and Cultural Center. The unique Center features authentic Himalayan cuisine and traditional Sherpa culture with interior décor that is an authentic representation of a typical Sherpa house in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their meal.

The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Avenue, and Museum hours are 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, $1 for ages 4-15, and free for children three and under. Adult tours receive discounted admission of $3/person.
