Fort Collins, Colo. (June 24, 2016) – As part of its mission to provide the Fort Collins community with safe, affordable housing, Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity invites the community to a wall raising ceremony on Saturday, June 25 at 8 a.m. The home is being built for the Bhatti family at 6602 Avondale Rd. in south Fort Collins.
“The number of individuals in Fort Collins who qualify for a Habitat home could fill Moby Arena three times over,” said Kristin Candella, Executive Director of Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity. “It is with great pleasure that Habitat can turn dreams into a reality for the Bhatti Family as we strive to build a strong foundation for struggling families in our community.”
The Bhattis recently immigrated to America after facing religious persecution in their homeland of Pakistan. After being forced to abandon the security of high-paying jobs and advantages of higher education, they found difficulty making ends meet in Fort Collins.
“We wanted to have a house for our children where they can grow and play with freedom,” said Mr. and Mrs. Bhatti. “We came to know about Habitat for Humanity through an advertisement and we thought it is the answer to our prayers.”
This home is sponsored jointly by First Presbyterian Church and LifePointe Church. As part of a focus to house families, both churches are contributing funds for the “bricks and sticks” to build the home. They are hosting fundraisers and will volunteer alongside the Bhatti family as they build their home.
