Dedication event Sunday, January 17, starting at 1 p.m.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (January 13, 2016) – The Gonzalez and Rzonca families will be starting off the New Year in a special way when they receive the keys to their new homes in a dedication event on Sunday, January 17, 2016. This is a celebration of their hard work; they contributed over 250 hours individually helping to build their homes. The families purchase their homes and repay a zero interest mortgage. The community is invited to attend and help the families settle into their new homes with donations of non-perishable food items and/or cleaning supplies. The celebration for the Gonzalez family starts at 1 p.m. followed by the celebration for the Rzonca family at 2 p.m. at 6602 Avondale Road in Fort Collins, Unit A and B.
The Human Bean Coffee Truck will be onsite from 1-3 p.m. offering a complimentary limited menu to those in attendance.

The Gonzalez home is sponsored by Thrivent Builds and Stone Soup Faith Organizations that includes First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, PEAK Community Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Timnath Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church and Fort Collins Interfaith Council.
Thrivent Financial has been a Habitat for Humanity partner for ten years through the Thrivent Builds program. They are a financial services organization that helps Christians be wise with money and live generously. Since 2006, they have contributed $755,015 and 21,512 volunteer hours to building seven Habitat homes in Fort Collins.
The Women Build program brings together women to take a stand for safe, affordable housing. It is also a way for local women to become empowered to learn construction skills.
The Women Build home is sponsored by over 170 individual generous women donors and is led by the Leadership Committee. Members of the Leadership Committee include: Marge Brodahl, Cat Cross, Jessie Donaldson, Kathy Jack-Romero, Connie Hanrahan, Leslie Lautzenhiser, Deanna Ludwin, Mary Lyons, Corkie Odell and Emily Pedicord.
Each home is a representation of community volunteers coming together to provide a “hand up” to people in need of affordable housing, offering them a path to greater economic independence.
