The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce released today results from a 2013 Voter Study, designed to measure the attitudes of registered voters in Fort Collins toward various issues in the community.

The study was based on 301 in-depth interviews with registered voters in Fort Collins and was conducted by Behavior Research Center on behalf of the Chamber. The results were announced at the Business Community Election Forum held at the Marriott. All ten candidates for City Council office as well as 120 business leaders were in attendance.

The poll results showed jobs and the economy are top of mind with Fort Collins residents. To an open-ended question about the most serious problem in the community, the top item cited by respondents was ‘need more jobs.’

To a question asking voters to rate 18 items, “Creating more quality jobs in Fort Collins” and “Attracting major employers to Fort Collins” ranked first and third, respectively. Voters showed strong support for economic development in general and for city government making the retention of Woodward a top priority in particular.

“Fort Collins citizens are clearly saying that jobs are their top concern, and they expect local government to have a proactive role in keeping and attracting private sector jobs,” said David May, president and ceo of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce. “Water storage was near the top of the list. .”
