Session Title: Mental Health Recovery Works – Spirit Crossing Clubhouse

Session Description:
Develop an understanding of behavioral health recovery support through supported employment and community involvement.  As a program of SummitStone Health Partners, Spirit Crossing Clubhouse has served individuals for 27 years in Larimer County to achieve vocational and life goals while overcoming the impacts of mental illness and addictions. Spirit Crossing Clubhouse practices the model of Individual Placement Support so individuals may achieve competitive employment and is accredited by Clubhouse International as an evidenced model of psychosocial rehabilitation.   

About the Presenters: 

Natalie Brown has worked at Spirit Crossing Clubhouse, a program of SummitStone Health Partners since 1999. Accredited by Clubhouse International and evidenced based practice (SAMSHA 2012), the Clubhouse values employment, education, and meaningful relationships to support adults in sustainable behavioral health recovery. Natalie possesses over 29 years of mental health practice with children and adults, including direct care, program management, and advocacy. She has engaged with further advocacy for individuals with disabilities through volunteer positions on Board of Directors for ARC of Larimer County, Educational Surrogate Advocate for children with IPE in Poudre School District, and Advisory Board membership with City of Fort Collins Transfort Dial-a-Ride Accessibility to Transit Committee (DARTAC), and Colorado Behavioral Health Planning and Advisory Council. She is born and raised in Colorado, residing in Northern Colorado since 1990 and enjoys travel, gardening and a variety of outdoor recreation 

Andrea Persson is a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) in Colorado. Andrea started working for DVR in May of 2016 as a Counselor and Counselor II Mentor/Trainer. Andrea obtained her master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado where she majored in Vocational Rehabilitation. Andrea’s passion for working with individuals with disabilities started in high school working with students with disabilities in the classroom and as a program coordinator for Special Olympics. Andrea has worked as a Clubhouse generalist and certified IPS practitioner. Andrea has a passion for assisting people with disabilities achieve their vocational goals and serve as a strong advocate for Supported Employment. In her free time Andrea loves spending time with her family including 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
