Old Town Library 50th Anniversary Celebration

Poudre Libraries is honoring Old Town Library’s 50th anniversary with a free community event on Saturday, October 17, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at 201 Peterson St.
The District is marking this milestone with an evening of special activities that honor the building’s past while looking toward the future. The public is welcome to attend.
“For 50 years, Old Town Library has grown alongside this community and created a welcoming space for learning and connection,” said Diane Lapierre, Poudre Libraries executive director. “This milestone is both a celebration of our roots, extending all the way back to the beginning of city public library service in 1901, and a celebration of our future.”
Join library staff, volunteers, and community members on Saturday, October 17 for a step back in time to the 1970s and celebrate 50 years of library service at Old Town Library.
Celebrating 50 Years
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The evening includes
- appetizers, refreshments, and birthday cake;
- the unveiling of items from the 1976 time capsule with the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery; and
- all-ages activity stations including 70s music, photobooth, retro games and books, and a visit to the “old Carnegie Library” with the Center for Creativity.
