Northern Colorado Affordable Housing Summit

Housing affordability is a regional challenge, and addressing it requires voices from across the public and private sectors.
BizWest will bring those voices together on October 21 for the 2026 Northern Colorado Affordable Housing Summit at the Drake Centre in Fort Collins. The morning will convene regional leaders, business owners, real estate and development professionals, government officials and other community stakeholders for a closer look at the forces shaping housing affordability in Northern Colorado.
The program begins with a national housing outlook from Dr. Robert Dietz, chief economist for the National Association of Home Builders, examining the economy, homebuilding market, inflation, interest rates and housing affordability.
DJ Summers of the Common Sense Institute will follow with a regional outlook and findings from the institute’s latest report on the cost of homebuilding in Colorado, including the impact of permit fees, use taxes, impact fees, tap fees and other requirements.
The conversation will move from the housing outlook to the challenges facing builders and developers, and ultimately to opportunities for public-private collaboration.
