Life After Stroke Art Show

May 2 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The artistic talents of UCHealth stroke survivors will be in the spotlight Thursday, May 2, at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies hosts the Life After Stroke Support Group Art Show.

About 20 stroke survivors from MCR’s stroke support group recently embarked on a special art project together. Through a partnership between the hospital’s stroke program and the Beet Education Center at Loveland Museum, each of the survivors created a mixed-media collage art piece with instruction from Pat Saunders-White, a Loveland artist.

Mixed-media collage art is when an artist uses various materials, like paper, fabric, photographs, paint, objects and newspaper clippings, to express a wide range of ideas and emotions. Each of the stroke survivor artists from this group created a unique piece – some displaying their favorite things or people and others chronicling their survivorship journey.

The artwork created by the survivors is on display at the Beet Education Center now and will be on display at MCR in conjunction with an art show reception from 4-6 p.m. May 2 in the MCR Longs Peak Conference Room on the lower level. The show is free.

The public is invited to stop by the art show and reception at the hospital to join the artists and the stroke program team to celebrate their survival, enjoy the artwork and honor Stroke Awareness Month. For more information, call 970.624.2109 or email [email protected].
