The Fort Collins branch of The Black Hills Unity Initiative is hosting a fundraiser for the 2017 Black Hills Unity Concert in Piedmont, South Dakota. This event is meant to illuminate and raise awareness about indigenous people’s land and rights as well as how the community can support indigenous communities. Performances, a silent auction, and poetry readings will take place throughout the event.
The Black Hills Unity Concert: A free, weekend-long gathering in Piedmont, South Dakota where natives and non-native individuals come together in prayer. Attendees are encouraged to partake in workshops during the day and enjoy music during the evenings while learning more about Native American cultures. Elders and leaders within the Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota Nations meet to discusses the reclamation of portions of the Sacred Black Hills. The concert hosts many indigenous artists, as well as their supporters, for a weekend of sharing, reconciliation, and community.
