The Climate Leadership Summit is an interactive experience organized by students, for students in the Northern Colorado region.
As a unique collaboration between the Sustainable Living Association, Colorado State University’s School of Global Environmental Sustainability and the Poudre School District Career & Innovation Department, this event will engage students to learn from each other and from the foremost leaders of climate science.
This next-generation climate education event is available to students between 8th-12th grade across Northern Colorado. Registration is now open and is limited to 400 students. If your school is interested in participating you can sign up on our website: https://sustainablelivingassociation.org/youth-leadership-summit/
The purpose of this youth developed, youth led program is to break down barriers for local youth to gain access to the knowledge and skills that enables them to take meaningful actions against climate change. The program focuses on providing tools, resources, and education to help youths advocate for policies and practices that will reduce the impacts of climate change for our community.
The Summit provides access to opportunities for youths to collaborate with peers, experts, and organizations that share their passion for addressing climate change and engage with issues they care so deeply about. A focus of the Summit is sharing career opportunities in fields related to climate science, renewable energy, environmental policy, conservation, and sustainable development. This exposure inspires youths to pursue studies and careers in these areas, so they can directly contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
The Summit is about taking action the day-of and making commitments to future action. The Summit’s goals are to build climate literacy, increase environmental career awareness and enrollment in local higher education, create climate activists, and develop collaborative leadership among the 400 Northern Colorado youths who are participating. The uniqueness of the Summit’s approach helps cultivate a generation that is informed, engaged, and committed to creating a sustainable and resilient future.
