Election season is right around the corner. As citizens of the Fort Collins Area, we will be electing a new mayor, three council members and consider as many as 10 local ballot issues and two county ballot issues. The Chamber will be a tremendous resource to our business community voters by providing insights, information and opportunity to learn about the people and the issues on the ballot.
Two opportunities to begin to build your knowledge base right around the corner are a Mayor’s Forum and our CIVIC Conversation.
Mayor’s Forum – August 18
Former Fort Collins Mayors—Susan Kirkpatrick, Doug Hutchinson, Karen Weitkunat, Ray Martinez, Wade Troxell and Jeni Arndt – are hosting a public forum to provide the opportunity to get to know the candidates for mayor.

With rank choice voting this fall, it’s critical to get to know the candidates–not just your top choice. Please come to meet and listen to the candidates—FoCo style. RSVP is requested, not required to: [email protected]
CIVIC Conversation – August 25
Hosted by the Fort Collins Area Chamber
Citizens in Fort Collins will have something new on their 2025 Municipal Ballot: Ranked Choice Voting. Ranked-choice voting/ranked voting is a method that allows voters to rank multiple candidates in a race in their order of preference. Fort Collins voters approved ranked voting in 2022 with 58.15% of the vote. The ballot language specified that it would be implemented for City Council races beginning with the 2025 municipal election.
This CIVIC Conversation will be modified to be a presentation by city staff with time for questions and answers. Join us to learn how Ranked Choice Voting works so you can be prepared to participate in the 2025 Municipal Election.
We look forward to having you join us at the CIVIC Conversation on Monday, August 25, from 4:30pm to 6pm at Horse & Dragon Brewing Company and learn about the important changes coming to a ballot near you. Registration is free: https://web.fortcollinschamber.com/atlas/events/civic-conversations-ranked-choice-voting-101-4161/details
CIVIC Conversations is sponsored by Elevations Credit Union and hosted by the Fort Collins Area Chamber.
