Elder Construction, a Colorado-based commercial general contractor, has launched a suite of tools that integrate cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality (VR) into the construction process.

“When you break ground, you’re not just building a structure. You’re laying the foundation for your ongoing success,” said Patrick Elder, VP of Northern Colorado for Elder Construction. “We realize that not every client we work with is able to take a 2D rendering of a building and visualize it in 3D. The goal of our E3 Technology Suite and our investment in virtual reality technology is to eliminate the complexities of construction projects and allow for clients to truly immerse themselves in their projects the way they need to in order to make the right decisions.”

VR technology takes 3D modeling in construction to a new level by placing the user directly inside the virtual environment. This allows individuals to interact with the environment as though they’re performing a walk-through long before the project has even started construction. “Our drive & motivation into this technology is to understand and set client expectation early, allowing our team to provide an exceptional client experience.”

Despite the benefits of VR technology in construction, according to the 2017 ConTech Report by JB Knowledge, only 16% of the 3,000 builders surveyed said they expect to be using AR or VR in construction projects before 2020. (Source: 2017 JBKnowledge ConTech Report).

“Our early adoption of technology throughout the construction process has allowed us to complete projects with more accuracy, more efficiency, and better overall client engagement.”

Elder Construction’s E3 Technology Suite weaves VR and 3D virtual building tours into all phases of a construction project at no additional cost to the client.
