Returning to Work
-
Have you recalled employees who will not return to work. The Colorado Department of Labor’s Returning to Work Employer Guidance for any employer is that if an employee is recalled and then rejects the offer to return to work, the employer should complete this form. This may impact an employee’s ability to access UI benefits. However, employees and employers need to know about employee exemptions and required employer accommodations (particularly for employees with health concerns or family responsibilities) that have been mandated through state executive orders and federal legislation.
- Are you hiring? Planning on hiring? Not sure how to reach candidates? Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development has begun hosting virtual hiring events to connect businesses to job seekers. Explain the opportunities with your company and meet local candidates, no masks required. Contact [email protected] and 498-6665 to learn more and schedule an event. Weld County businesses can participate in Virtual Job Fairs through Employment Services of Weld County. Contact their Business Line at (970) 400-6714 to learn more.

HR 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) temporarily provides for paid sick time, protected paid family leave, and insurance coverage for private employers with fewer than 500 employees and provides private businesses with payroll tax credits to offset the additional expenses incurred. It is complicated legislation with extensive guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor, but the Employers Council breaks it down into plain language and NoCo’s Simply HR has recorded a detailed webinar on the requirements to get employers more familiar with the requirements.

Layoffs may be unavoidable due to COVID-19 related economic impacts. If you are experiencing a reduction in force, please read the guidance provided by CDLE to better prepare your workers for their UI applications and to understand your responsibilities in the process. If you plan to rehire your staff when economic conditions improve, you may instruct your laid off staff to indicate in their Unemployment Insurance application that they intend to return to work for you (“Job Attached” classification). Your local Workforce Center (Larimer, Weld, Boulder) can help answer general questions about UI topics
