The Fort Collins Area Chamber has been a member of the Common Sense Institute (CSI) for a number of years. We invest our Northern Colorado Prospers 2.0 funds into this important non-profit, non-partisan research organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of our economy. That investment allows us to have access to some amazing resources that we share with decision makers across the region.
In 2024, Common Sense Institute created 90 reports, hosted 27 outreach events, and conducted 121 presentations across the state. The reports, written by Colorado Fellows, tackled topics like Housing and Condo Defects, Energy, Property Taxes, Workforce Shortages, Fees and RTD Reform. CSI’s mission is to examine the fiscal impacts of policies, initiatives, and proposed laws so that citizens are educated and informed on issues impacting their lives. CSI employs rigorous research techniques and dynamic modeling to evaluate the potential impact of these measures on the economy and individual opportunity and we are honored to support this important work. You can learn more about CSI and the tremendous work they’ve been doing here: https://www.commonsenseinstituteus.org/.
Last Tuesday members of the Chamber Board and Staff traveled to Denver for the CSI Free Enterprise Summit. This is an annual event that showcases the work of CSI, but also recognizes key community leaders and the role they play in encouraging Free Enterprise and Good Policy. The Fort Collins Area Chamber was honored to present to Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt the Visionary for the Future Award. This award recognizes the innovation, bridge building, and common sense it takes to solve some of Colorado’s greatest public policy challenges. Drawing on experience, creativity, and an ability to convene diverse opinions across the state, the honoree clearly identifies the problem and drives towards solutions rooted in data and fact.
