When a parent finds themselves in a bind with childcare, they have to scramble to find an alternate option – or miss work. For parents, this equates to working fewer hours, taking a pay cut, or leaving their job altogether. Our economy needs parents in the workforce, and our children need childcare and early education.
We must start talking about this issue. Childcare is not accessible or affordable for everyone, and this affects EVERYONE in Larimer County. When someone can’t get to work due to issues with childcare, their company suffers, their employers and coworkers suffer. Everybody is affected.
With accessible and affordable childcare and early education, parents can work without the stress of finding care for their children, and they won’t have to worry about their child receiving high-quality care that helps them learn, grow, and thrive.
We need to advocate for the parents who depend on childcare and early education to get to work. We need to speak up for change and support the parents who depend on childcare and early education.
