Presentations focused on challenges and future of health care in region
LOVELAND, COLO. – April 5, 2018 – The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, with help from 49 key industry sponsors hosted the 7th annual Health Care In Your Future Summit April 4, at the Embassy Suites, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway in Loveland.
More than 200 people attended, including industry leaders who presented on a variety of topics ranging from: the accomplishments and challenges of health in Larimer and Weld counties, recognizing and addressing mental health, culture of well-being in the workplace, aging, technology and the social determinants of health.
“This Summit included very healthy conversations on a relatively complex topic. The health of the community was talked about as much as health care,” said Ann Hutchison, Chamber Executive Vice President and event organizer. “We hope attendees were presented with a lot of information and action items to take back with them to help improve their lives and get more involved with the issues at hand.”
Dr. Marilyn Moon, fellow with the American Institutes for Research (AIR), was the keynote speaker and discussed health care and the outlook on health policy. She touched on the timing and change in the health care system, insurance and her ideas on how we can improve the system now.
The mission of the Health Summit is to give members of the business community an opportunity to learn about changes in the health care industry and how it will impact their companies, employees, and families. It is underwritten by area businesses that participated in the Moving Fort Collins Forward! campaign last fall. Following the Summit, the Health Care In Your Future Job Fair was held to bring health care employers and potential employees together. More than 20 health care companies were present to speak with job hunters and interested community members looking to succeed in the industry.
The Job Fair was co-sponsored by the Larimer County Workforce Center, Employment Services of Weld County, and the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Health Sector Partnership.
