The annual Light of Hope breakfast will bring together a community of volunteers, donors, businesses, and service providers to shed a light on child abuse. The breakfast, scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 at the Fort Collins Hilton, celebrates the incredible work being done to disrupt the cycle of abuse in Larimer County.

CASA of Larimer County’s (CLC’s) signature event will celebrate unprecedented growth as the nonprofit expands to meet the needs in our community. For the first time ever, CLC is serving more than 50 percent of dependency and neglect cases in Larimer County. In 2019, CASA volunteers were appointed by the courts to cases representing 318 children in the 8th Judicial District. Also in 2019, CLC’s supervised visitation program at Harmony House helped more families reunify and strengthen bonds than any year prior in the program’s 30-year history.

“CASA of Larimer is going through a transformation right now,” says Mary Ericson, CLC Development Director. “We’ve been serving our community for decades and now we’re looking proactively at how to adapt our programs to make an even bigger difference for children and families. Our community recognizes that and is excited by it.”

The Light of Hope breakfast is projected to raise more funds and recruit more volunteers than ever before, “which is what we need to continue our momentum!,” says Ericson. The breakfast will feature a powerful testimonial from a CASA volunteer and survivor of child abuse and recognize key players in the fight against child abuse.
