Economic Development

Building a Stronger Economy
Recognizing that the retention and attraction of primary employers is key to community economic prosperity, the Chamber has been a champion for a strong business climate and an effective economic development marketing program.

The traditional economic development marketing function is handled by a separate organization, the Northern Colorado Economic Alliance (NCEA).

The Chamber’s role in economic development includes:

  • Providing leadership to economic development marketing by serving on the NCEA Board.
  • Regularly contacting existing primary employers to identify those with expansion opportunities or those that are at risk.
  • Supporting the work of groups like the Colorado Clean Energy Cluster and the Larimer Bioscience Cluster.
  • And, as noted elsewhere, the Chamber focuses on the business climate, which includes such things as transportation systems, taxes and fees, regulations and other such issues.
