Mayor Francis and Members of Council:
Fort Collins was incredibly fortunate in 1979 when Hewlett Packard chose to invest in our community. Over the intervening years, we have witnessed corporate spin-offs, realignments, workforce adjustments and rebranding. Through it all, we’ve benefitted from the uninterrupted commitment to the design and fabrication of cutting-edge technology that moves at the speed of an increasingly competitive and complex global marketplace.
This dynamic not only adds to our collective economic relevance but helps foster the innovative and resilient spirit that spreads well beyond what is now the Broadcom campus. The dividends of that initial investment in 1979 are impossible to fully calculate. Tremendous wealth has accrued to the benefit of the thousands of local employees, suppliers and contractors of this corporate family tree over the years. More importantly, successive generations of our youth have been provided with the unique opportunity to grow into highly skilled, good paying jobs to secure their own future while supporting the entrepreneurship of our wider economy.
Before you tonight is a proposal to continue this virtuous cycle. Resolution #2026-116 calls for the use of construction use and sales tax rebates alongside manufacturing sales and use tax rebates to support the remodeling and modernization of the Broadcom site and an estimated $1.5B commitment that will continue to pay dividends for generations yet to come. Broadcom has a proven track record of being an excellent business partner, growing jobs and supporting community.
Resolution #2026-116 represents a small token of our esteem for a bedrock member of our community that exemplifies the character and integrity we demand of ourselves. The Chamber strongly encourages you to vote yes for this investment.
Sincerely,
Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce

Economic development is long-term work. The investments we make and the opportunities we create today can shape this community for decades to come.
We are fortunate to have companies that continue to see Fort Collins as a place worth investing in, and partners willing to work together to make those investments possible. The Chamber will continue to champion opportunities that create jobs, strengthen our economy and position Northern Colorado for what comes next.
