Funds Raised Support Cancer Research in Colorado
The American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball of Northern Colorado will mark its 29th year with sights set on the traditional, in-person event Saturday, September 18th in Windsor, CO, under the volunteer leadership of Jean Schober Morrell, Ph.D. The event site is generously hosted by Jim and Kirsten Humphrey of Windsor, CO.
“This is a very important year for us. 2020 had a profound impact on the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer including delayed preventative screenings, postponed treatments and reduced funds for research,” said Rachel Befort, Development Manager for the American Cancer Society. “While we experienced setbacks last year, our Northern Colorado Community gathered together virtually raising more than $465,000. 2021 is a year of new beginnings and endless opportunities. As circumstances allow, we are planning our traditional format of an evening of fine food and beverage, live entertainment and fundraising under the tent.”
“I was honored to be asked to Chair Cattle Baron’s Ball and I have big boots to fill,” said 2021 Cattle Baron’s Ball Chair, Jean Schober Morrell. “We all have personal reasons for supporting the work of the American Cancer Society. As a 32-year breast cancer survivor, I‘ve become a passionate supporter of the Society and this event for many years. After losing my husband Pete to pancreatic cancer last summer after only a two-month battle, I am more determined than ever to do whatever I can to help the American Cancer Society ‘lead the fight for a world without cancer’.”
In the United States, in 2021, almost 1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed, and 608,570 Americans will lose their battle. That’s more than 1,650 people a day and does not account for the impact of late diagnoses from Covid-19.
Businesses and individuals are invited to support the American Cancer Society and this year’s mission paddle raise of cancer research in Colorado through innovative sponsorship opportunities and table reservations. More information can be found at https://www.cbbnoco.com/.
